The New York-New York Hotel and Casino is a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip.  It is owned and operated by MGM Resorts International.  The New York-New York Hotel and Casino opened on January 3, 1997.  The project was a joint venture of MGM Grand Inc. and Primadonna Resorts.

The resort is located on the northwest corner of the Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevard intersection.  Pedestrians are not able to cross the street at the intersection and must cross the street by overhead pedestrian bridges.  New York-New York is linked by overhead bridges to its neighboring casinos, the Excalibur and the MGM Grand.

The New York-New York Hotel and Casino brings New York City to Las Vegas.  Its architecture is meant to evoke the New York City skyline.  There is a 300 foot Brooklyn Bridge and 12 New York-style skyscrapers including the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building.  In front of the property is a lake representing New York Harbor, with a 150 foot tall replica of the Statue of Liberty.  Landmarks also include replicas of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Main Immigration Building on Ellis Island, the Grand Central Station, and the September 11 tribute.

Within the resort, the hotel mimics Manhattan’s Park Avenue, Central Park, Times Square, and the Financial District.  The shops are modeled after Greenwich Village and there also is a Coney Island style roller coaster.  The Roller Coaster travels through the property’s interior and exterior and has trains that resemble a traditional Checker Cab.

Other attractions at New-York New-York include the erotic cabaret show, Zumanity, which is the third show from Cirque du Soleil.  The ESPN Zone was just recently remodeled and renamed “Sporting House.”  It caters to the sporting crowd and is a restaurant with an upstairs room full of sports themed interactive games.  The hotel also features nearly a dozen bars and nightclubs, including ROK Vegas, Nine Fine Irishmen, Coyote Ugly, Pour 24, the Central Park Piano Bar, and the Center Bar.
