The Stratosphere Las Vegas is a tower, hotel, and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Its tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower, and the 5th tallest structure in the United States at 1,1140 feet.  It is one of the most prominent landmarks of Las Vegas.  Stratosphere Las Vegas is owned by Whitehall Street Real Estate Funds, an affiliate of Goldman, Sachs & Co.

The Stratosphere opened on April 30, 1996.  Shortly after opening the Stratosphere Company was forced to file bankruptcy and the construction on the second tower was forced to stop leaving it partially built.  In June 2001, the second tower was finished.

The top of the tower has two observation decks, a 360 seat revolving restaurant known as “Top of the World”, and three thrill rides.  Big Shot is the highest thrill ride in the world.  Insanity is the second highest thrill ride in the world.  And X Scream is the third highest thrill ride in the world.  Also, at the top is SkyJump Las Vegas, a controlled bungee jumping ride.

The Stratosphere features two pools.  The Level 8 pool is a traditional resort swimming pool located on the 8th floor and the pool area features a 67,000 square foot deck, hot tub, poolside cafe and bar.  Beach Club 25 is located outside on the 25th floor and provides great views of Las Vegas.
